Patchwork

Reading Room Gallery presents John’s patchwork and appliqué Picture Coats & Wallhangings together with original drawings.
His diverse imagery ranges from ancient Egypt to the streets of Barcelona.
The detailed work is a mix of individual pieces of soft leathers, drawings on calico, cut paper and leaves.
A stitched patchwork forest leaf project is featured with images documenting its return to the soil. A virtual interactive online environment has been created from the event.
The coats are narratives and an early piece of John’s work was acquired for the V&A Collection.
