Aye Write Chooses Reading Room Manchester
10/12/2007 - Manchester
Reading Room Manchester has won the brief to design the website for the Aye Write book festival in Glasgow.
Aye Write! book festival is run by Glasgow Libraries. It celebrates the rich variety of Glaswegian writing and brings top writers from around the world to the city. Our client wanted to develop a dedicated site for the event for the first time in its history.
The festival programme includes a mix of fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose, talks, debates and workshops. Glasgow Libraries wanted the online presence to reflect this diversity and promote it with similarly diverse cutting-edge functionality such as transcripts, blogs, RSS feeds and podcasts.
We are planning to include lots of features such as:
• An events calendar for people to see what’s on day by day
• A festival blog
• An audio and video section containing videos and podcasts of famous authors including Iain Banks and Hanif Kureishi
• My Aye Write! – a personalised area where users can save events, video and audio files. It also encourages audience participation and feedback.
• Online book groups, kids and school areas all help to create an interactive community online. There were also links to social networking sites Facebook and MySpace in order to encourage interaction.
The Aye Write! festival takes place in March 2008.
