Double win for Reading Room at the International Business Awards

12/08/2010 - London

We couldn't be prouder here at Reading Room after finding out our work for the Wellcome Collection and UNHCR has been rewarded with two globally-recognised Stevies at The 2010 International Business Awards.

Both entries received outstanding marks throughout the judging process, with the Wellcome Collection being rewarded for Interface Design and UNHCR receiving recognition in the Non-Profit Organisation category.

Margaret Manning, Reading Room CEO, said: "Naturally, we're delighted to win not one, but two of these highly prestigious awards - especially as this is the second year running that we've been successful. At the 2009 IBAs, we won in the Interface Design category for our stunning work for WWF UK, so to go and better that by adding two more coveted Stevies to our name is a credit to the brilliant achievements of our teams in the UK and Australia.

The Wellcome Collection, which explores connections between medicine and art, asked our UK team to help bring their collection to life onlinew and place it at the fingertips of a worldwide audience. We transformed their online presence, resulting in a dramatic rise in visitor numbers online and to the venue. Through insightful IA and a rich array of features and content, visitors are now spending more time investigating and discovering on the site.

For the UNHCR - the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees - the goal was to create a profound emotional connection between donors and those in need, extending the life of the relationship  by deepening the understanding of the work the charity performs. The team in our Australian office delivering striking design to compel users to explore further, resulting in incredible one-off donations and a remarkable number of recurring donations.

The Stevies - the business world's answer to the Oscars - launched in 2002 to honour and generate public recognition for the achievements of companies and business people worldwide. Like their cinematic counterpart the Stevie trophy is based on a gold statuette, this time holding aloft a crystal pyramid to represent the hierarchy of human needs. We look forward to seeing it in the trophy cabinet after the ceremony in September.
