ITV Manhunt Goes Online

The Manhunt website will feature top 10 criminal appeals along with images of the 'hunted', a short appeal text and the scene of incident. It supports ITV's new crime fighting prime time show due to be first screened at 9pm on Monday 4th December 2006.

The one and a half hour long programme, called 'Manhunt - Solving Britain's Crimes' will be presented by Mark Austin and Sarah Heaney. The user will be able to find full details of the appeals once they click through each appeal.

Reading Room, Crimestoppers preferred digital communications consultancy, were charged with creating the online appeals campaign which appears on the Crimestoppers 'Most Wanted' site and will be made live on Monday 4th December to coincide with the pilot programme.

The Crimestoppers site, now in its one year anniversary has been a huge success with over 50 million hits since its launch in November 2005. Every 7 days somebody is charged with murder/attempted murder from information received from the site. In the first day its relaunch a 'Most Wanted' criminal handed himself in as he obviously realised there was no hiding from the site

Stephen Belgrave, Head of Online Communications and Manager of Most Wanted:
"This is a fantastic opportunity to further promote the charities expansion into the field of using the web to help fight crime and to let the public know about this relatively new initiative that allows for the first time for individuals to give information anonymously online. We recently celebrated the 1st anniversary of Most Wanted with an impressive 1.4 million page impressions over a 72 hour period. Our hope is that Manhunt, which will use our 0800 555 111 anonymous telephone number and online form as the method to pass information on the appeals shown, will help to further promote our crime stopping objectives and generate a wider awareness of how to help make your community a safer place and promote positive community engagement in an issue that affects us all".

Margaret Manning, CEO Reading Room adds:
"The success of the 'Most Wanted' site proves it is the perfect medium to promote the ITV Manhunt show. We really enjoy the challenge of producing creative sites that actually work for our clients and produce results that truly matter".
