Reading Room breaks new ground with NHS Well-being Garden
19/08/2010 - London
Reading Room has pushed back the boundaries with a unique and innovative new website for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), receiving praise from broadcaster, author and champion for mental health, Stephen Fry.
Fry was invited to officially open the Well-being Garden and was impressed with what was on offer.
He said: “What an honour to open this virtual garden. Everyone is welcome to step in and enjoy this charming, innovative and important new open space.
The Well-being Garden gives tips on taking time out and on making connections with the people and the communities all around you – vital steps in maintaining good mental health. I hope you find a place you will want to return to again and again.”
Our talented team has created SlaM’s ‘Well-being Garden’ – a bold, never been done before concept that reflects SlaMs move from being a healthcare provider – reacting to and treating mental illness – to one that also promotes mental well-being.
“The Well-being Garden gives tips on taking time out and on making connections with tslhe people and the communities all around you – vital steps in maintaining good mental health. I hope you find a place you will want to return to again and again.”
The emphasis is on delivering fresh new content in a clean and simple layout and making it easy to use and navigate around. To get to that point, Reading Room gathered feedback from people who use SlaM’s services to find out what they want and need. It led to lots of exciting features being added, including video content and online support from SlaM’s mental health promotion team.
