Reading Room Delivers New NHS London GP Information Online

07/12/2011 - London

Mayor of London Boris Johnson today unveiled www.myhealth.london.nhs.uk, developed by award-winning digital consultancy, Reading Room. It’s the first UK website where patients can access new information about their GP including cancer survival rates and patient satisfaction.

London is the first city to combine a set of 22 standards that represent the minimum patients should expect from their GP. Reading Room developed the new online offering which gives each London practice its own webpage that can be customised to showcase their work and keep the public informed of clinics and services, as well as enabling patients to provide feedback.

myhealthlondon is the latest in a line of successful public sector digital projects delivered by Reading Room including the new Ofsted website, further enhancing Reading Room’s reputation for supporting the Government’s initiative to promote openness and transparency of data. One of only ten approved suppliers on the Government Procurement Service Web Design and Content Management Services roster, Reading Room developed myhealthlondon to make information freely available using open source software.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said: “All Londoners should have access to good quality general practice and we know that in a lot of cases in the capital patient care is exemplary, and GPs are both valued and respected by their patients. However there is variation across London and we know that better information drives up standards, so we want Londoners to get actively involved in taking control of their own health.”

Reading Room London Managing Director, David Burgess, stated: “We’re delighted to have been able to work with NHS London to not only make this important information open to the public, but also enable them to interact with their local GP, providing them with a voice. It was a fast-run project and we’re excited to continue our working relationship with NHS London as development moves into the second phase.”
