Students - Our Future Digital Talent
Reading Room are helping to pave the way for the next generation of talent to enter the digital industry. In addition to our graduate recruitment scheme, we have worked with Brunel University in launching a design challenge targeting 2nd year multimedia students.
The 6 month project offers guidance and support to students with the practical experience of creating communication campaigns. Students were asked to produce a working prototype for a site that displayed accessible thinking and creative design. They were given the opportunity to explain how they would market their concept and how data capture from their site would be effectively utilised.
Over 20 proposals were submitted from the teams of students. These were whittled down to a shortlist of four and the teams were invited to present their ideas to the Reading Room Board.
The winning project www.accessibilityinfocus.co.uk is an awards site celebrating good accessible design. The concept has proved so successful that the winning team have been asked to launch the awards and the website. The judging panel is being led by Phil Jones, Director of Real Time Consultancy.
Reading Room have worked with the winning team to finish the development of the site and to help realise the potential of the idea. Reading Room is also taking two Brunel placement students this year.
Margaret Manning, CEO Reading Room:
"We're delighted with the winning project and more so with the high quality talent that all the students have demonstrated. We're really committed to supporting these students in their digital careers and feel this is a good solution to filling the recruitment shortage in the industry".
