The Prince of Wales's website is relaunched

Clarence House appointed award winning digital consultancy Reading Room to create a new look official website for The Prince of Wales which is launched today at http://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/.

Reading Room designed the site with a contemporary look and fresh, distinctive design. The new site utilises interactive features, communicating through subscription-based content, flash games and broadband content.

To mark the launch, Clarence House has made a short film called "Away day" which charts the progress of The Prince of Wales and his wife, The Duchess of Cornwall, as they carry out a series of visits in and around Birmingham.

For the first time on The Prince of Wales's website, Reading Room has designed a dedicated children's area, complete with interactive games and artwork. The content of this area is written with children in mind, and the interactive slider games and fun facts and figures offer entertaining ways to learn more about The Prince of Wales and his family.

With many children regularly sending The Prince drawings and pictures, the site also features an Art Room where some of these drawings are presented.

The site has been designed very much with the user in mind, with clear navigation and sections available in Welsh and Gaelic. The content is categorised in such a way as to allow detailed searches across the site.

Reading Room's co-founder and managing director Margaret Manning, whose team worked closely with the Clarence House Press Office on the redesign, said today: "This has been a very exciting project for us to work on. The old website was very popular but needed updating and refreshing.

We saw our job as very much retaining all the best aspects of the old site while at the same time improving accessibility, navigation, and embracing the very latest technology."

A spokesperson from Clarence House said:
"We are pleased with our new website which we hope will appeal to everyone as an easily accessible, useful and stimulating source of information on The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Prince Harry."
