Three innovative Reading Room creations shortlisted for Manchester Digital's Big Chip Awards

20/04/2009 - Manchester

We are literally over the moon to have been shortlisted in three categories for Manchester Digital’s prestigious Big Chip Awards for Best Not for Profit, Best E-business and Best use of Visual Design.

The already award winning Dulwich Picture Gallery has been nominated Best Not for Profit Project. In designing and building Dulwich’s new website we matched Dulwich’s energy and vision with a creative exploration of their brand. By designing a truly creative navigation system the user feels as if they are peeling back layers of the gallery, each revealing the different activities the gallery has to offer. Dulwich now have an easily manageable and visually impressive site to showcase their collection and all gallery activities which has made quite a stir amongst visitor and attracted envy in the art world.

The fantastic results achieved from kick off obviously spoke for themselves as we have been nominated for best e-commerce project for The Glenlivet. The Taste the Glenlivet campaign has hit 100% over its target including getting over twice the initial target users signed up to the site, generating thousands of views a month and hundreds of comments on the Taste The Glenlivet monthly articles.

Stunning design and impactful imagery has ensured our work for The Doyle Collection has been shortlisted for Best Use of Visual Design. To help the rebranding of the luxury hotel chain, Reading Room designed a stunning new website. Central to the rebrand was our understanding of the business and leisure traveller’s heavy reliance on a seamless booking experience coupled with a wealth of information for visitors on what to see and do in the local area.

The Big Chip Awards are now in their eleventh year; celebrating new media excellence in the North West. Judges include experts from Channel 4, Yahoo, Grey Worldwide and New Media Age. The ceremony will be held on 18th June at the Palace Hotel, Manchester.

Creative Director Kirstie Buchanan commented: “Being nominated in three categories of these awards confirms our position as a leading player in the North West New Media industry, both in terms of design and technical capability. We all work very hard to provide clients with fantastic projects that they’re really happy with through offering engaging design and content, whilst always staying on top of the latest technology and media.”
