12 aspiring students showcased their digital skills last week, in the hope of securing dream jobs with businesses in the local area.

The young recruits – from Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets – are all participants of the inaugural Flipside programme, a three-month, digital product design training scheme, co-created and delivered by London’s leading digital agencies, including Reading Room.

Supported by Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, the training is designed to encourage more young people to consider digital careers, while helping businesses access a wider pool of creative talent in East London. Providing an insight into digital careers, course participants can access hands-on work experience and classroom learning, as well as guidance from industry mentors to accelerate their development.

Reading Room worked with a host of other agencies and industry professionals to develop exciting content for the course, ensuring it delivers an accurate portrayal of the day-to-day tasks of a digital career.

Jamie Griffiths, Managing Director at Reading Room said: “We’re delighted to be working with other like-minded agencies and learning providers to craft a programme that gives the younger generation valuable exposure to the digital and creative industry.

"We also hope it will help with firing their passion for successful careers in what is such a competitive, fast-paced and exciting sector. We look forward to welcoming new talent into our agency.”
