Two Rippleffect teams have signed up for Trailwalker - a 100km walk organised by and in support of Oxfam.
The event takes place over the weekend of 22-24 July but our two teams of four - Ripple Ramblers and Christopher Walkin’ - have already started their training for the gruelling but rewarding trek from Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire to Brighton Concourse.
Henry George, a member of the Christopher Walkin’ team, says they’re excited about the challenge ahead: “Trailwalker is a big challenge, but it’s for an important charity and we’re all looking forward to taking it on. We have some keen ramblers here at Rippleffect, but we weren’t expecting enough interest to enter two teams. It shows how much we love a physical challenge!”
It’s not just the physical strain of walking 100km that they’ll need to overcome, as Ripple Rambler Claire Copeman explains:
“One of the biggest challenges we’ll face is keeping each other motivated throughout the walk, especially during the night! It will be tough, but we’ll encourage each other every step of the way. Plus, we have an enthusiastic Rippleffect support team on-hand to help.”
One of the conditions of entering Trailwalker is to raise a minimum of £2,800 across the two teams. That’s no mean feat, but Claire explains how the teams will be working towards that target.
“We have some great fundraising ideas to help us reach the target including bake sales, a raffle, sponsorship packages and, of course, donations from anyone that would like to support us and to help Oxfam end poverty.”
If you’d like to support either of our brave teams, we'd be extremely grateful. Visit their dedicated Just Giving pages below and leave the team a good luck message!
