Digital service transformation

UK Export Finance (UKEF) is the UK’s export credit agency. UKEF supports UK exporters, brokers and banks by providing insurance to exporters and guarantees to banks to share the risks of providing export finance. In addition, they make loans to overseas buyers of goods and services from the UK.

We are currently working with UK Export Finance (UKEF) to develop a submission service for all of their paper-based forms. Reading Room was initially commissioned to run a Discovery project with the main goal of looking at the finance products offered by UKEF to understand the user needs and challenges around them, map the business processes associated with processing insurance applications and create a digital roadmap showing how these services can be digitised over time as part of a portal that could be used by the main three user groups.

During the Discovery phase, the team used a combination of workshops, one to one interviews and surveys to engage with internal and external users including exporters, brokers and banks, gather requirements and create a set of user stories and product backlog for the new digital services.

At the end of the Discovery, the team presented the digital roadmap and recommended scope for the Alpha proof of concept. Further to the successful completion of the Discovery phase and GDS assessment, Reading Room was commissioned to deliver the suggested prototype during the Alpha phase.
